Jennifer’s Journey
1994 was a pivotal for me. I was attending Gallaudet University my master’s degree in School and Guidance Counseling for the Deaf. I was placed on several rounds of antibiotics and was not getting better. The antibiotics completely shut down my body’s ability to heal itself. I was then diagnosed with Epstein-Barr Syndrome (EBV) and Fibromyalgia. I was in a major car accident. The accident left me partially paralyzed left arm and a severe injury to my foot and ankle. The ER doctor stated that I was going to need narcotics for the pain, but I was not comfortable with taking narcotic medications.
The director of the holistic wellness center I was attending for my EBV treatments suggested hypnotherapy. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, I tried both hypnotherapy and Reiki with miraculous results. Almost immediately, I was able to control my pain and within a several weeks, regained the function of my arm and my ability to walk. I was also able to resolve the trauma from the accident, regain my ability to drive and was able to overcome Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV). It was estimated that this process would take a year to regain optimal function, but I was out of bed and functioning within three months. I was able to work in the school system for one semester and returned back to finishing my masters degree the following semester.
The experience transformed the patient into the teacher. I subsequently trained and become certified in hypnosis through the (NGH) National Guild of Hypnotist (Hypnotherapist back in the late 90’s). After practicing for more than 25 years and recognizing that the requirements for continuing to practice had changed, I recently enrolled in The Hypnotherapy Academy of America. After completing 500 hours of advanced training, I have certifications in Transpersonal (Natal, Interlife, and Past Life Regression Therapy), and Medical Support Clinical Hypnotherapy. I am also a fellow of The International Board of Hypnotherapy. I continue to use self-hypnosis daily as a part of my dialy practices.
I’ve had the pleasure of guiding others to find their potentials for over 27 years. I am so excited to incorporate all that I have learned to continue to assist and guide others to live their best lives. I currently live in Florida with my husband and my Service/Medical Alert dog Stella. I am working on my first book and looking forward to adding Pediatric Hypnotherapy Certification later this year.
